Kioto
- Fushimi Inari Shrine's thousands of torii gates; arrive at dawn to beat the crowds.
- Arashiyama's bamboo grove and the nearby Tenryu-ji temple garden.
- Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion) and Ginkaku-ji (the Silver Pavilion) for contrasting garden design.
- Wander Gion in the early evening for a chance to see a geiko or maiko en route to an appointment.

Mejor época para visitar
Early-to-mid April (cherry blossoms) and November (autumn foliage) are Kyoto's most beautiful, and most crowded and expensive, weeks. Late spring and early autumn offer a calmer, still-pleasant alternative.
Dónde alojarse
The area around Kyoto Station is convenient for day trips and rail access; Gion and Higashiyama put you within walking distance of the historic temple district but book up early in peak season.
Transporte y aeropuertos
Kyoto is reachable from Tokyo in about 2 hours 15 minutes by Shinkansen. Within the city, buses cover the temple districts more directly than the smaller subway network; a one- or two-day bus pass is often worthwhile.
Gastronomía
Kyoto is closely associated with kaiseki (multi-course refined dining) and shojin ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine), alongside Nishiki Market's food stalls for a more casual, affordable introduction to local specialties.
Excursiones de un día
Nara (famous for its free-roaming deer and Todai-ji temple) is about 45 minutes away and pairs well with a Kyoto base. Osaka is roughly 15 minutes by Shinkansen or 30–45 minutes by regular rail.
Presupuesto
Mid-range travel (business hotel, restaurant meals, temple entry fees) runs roughly ¥20,000–30,000/day; costs rise noticeably during the cherry blossom and autumn-foliage peaks.
Consejos de viaje
Many of the most-photographed sites (Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama) are dramatically less crowded at opening time. Some traditional restaurants and ryokan are cash-only, so carry yen even in a generally card-friendly country.
Preguntas frecuentes
Is 2 days enough for Kyoto?
It covers the highlights (Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, Kinkaku-ji, Gion) at a fast pace; 3–4 days allows a more relaxed visit plus a Nara day trip.
