Air France
Air France is France’s flag carrier and a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance. Together with KLM it forms the Air France-KLM group, and from its hub at ParisโCharles de Gaulle it runs an extensive network across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas and Asia. Its frequent-flyer programme, Flying Blue, is shared with KLM.
Hub and network
Most international Air France flights operate from ParisโCharles de Gaulle (CDG), largely from Terminal 2. Air France is a common choice for routes between Europe and francophone Africa, North Africa including Morocco, and the French overseas territories, as well as for connections through Paris. With KLM, connections are also possible via Amsterdam Schiphol.
Baggage allowance
From Air France’s official baggage page (flights operated by Air France):
- Economy: one small bag plus 0 or 1 hand bag depending on the fare, with a maximum total of 12 kg.
- Premium: two hand bags plus one small bag, 12 kg in total.
- Business and La Premiรจre: two hand bags plus one small bag, 18 kg in total.
- Hand bag size: 55 x 35 x 25 cm including wheels and handles. Small bag: 40 x 30 x 15 cm, under the seat in front of you.
- Basic Economy fares include the small bag only. Flying Blue Gold members and above can bring a hand bag free; others can buy a Hand Baggage option when booking, in My Bookings up to 4 hours before departure, or at the airport.
- Liquids in cabin bags: containers of up to 100 ml in one transparent, resealable bag of up to 1 litre per passenger (baby food and medicines are exempt).
Checked baggage depends on your fare, cabin and route, and is shown in your booking. If your journey includes flights operated by partners, their rules may differ; Air France advises following the strictest allowance on the trip.
Check-in
You can check in online or in the Air France app, choose a seat, buy extra baggage or a meal, and get your boarding pass, then drop bags at the baggage counter. Check-in opening times and deadlines depend on the departure airport and route, so confirm them in your booking or app before travelling.
Seats, meals and onboard service
On long-haul flights, meals and drinks are included in every cabin. The service on European and domestic flights depends on cabin and route. Seat selection options depend on your fare and Flying Blue status, and paid options are shown in My Bookings.
Changes, cancellations and refunds
Fare conditions decide whether changes and refunds are possible and at what cost; manage them in My Bookings. For flights covered by EU rules, you may have rights to rebooking or a refund, care and in some cases compensation if your flight is cancelled or heavily delayed: see the EU passenger rights portal.
Practical tips
- Basic fare? Plan for the small bag only, or add a Hand Baggage option online before the airport.
- Weigh both bags together. The 12 kg Economy limit covers the hand bag and small bag combined.
- Allow time at CDG. Terminal 2 is spread over several halls; read our ParisโCharles de Gaulle guide.
- Staying in Paris? See our Paris guide and France guide.
