London Gatwick is the UK’s second-busiest airport, south of London in West Sussex. It is a major base for easyJet, also hosts British Airways flights and many leisure, low-cost and long-haul airlines such as Wizz Air. It is well connected by rail, with trains to central London and across the south-east.

Terminals and airlines

Gatwick has two terminals, North and South, linked by a free shuttle. Each airline uses a set terminal; check your booking. At the South Terminal, Wizz Air passengers who checked in online can use automated bag drops in Zone J.

Transit and connections

Gatwick has many self-connecting passengers combining low-cost flights. If your flights are on separate tickets, you will normally need to pass UK border control, collect bags and check in again, so leave a generous gap. Use our Layover Planner.

Passenger facilities

Both terminals have shops, restaurants and lounges. Check the Gatwick website for current services in your terminal.

Official links

Rules and services checked against official sources in October 2026. Airlines and airports change their policies, fares and services regularly: always confirm the details for your own booking on the official pages linked here before you travel.

Traveler Information

  • Know your terminal: North or South. The free shuttle links them in minutes.
  • Bag-drop deadlines vary by airline: easyJet closes bag drop 60 minutes before departure at Gatwick, and Wizz Air's desks open 180 minutes and close 60 minutes before departure.
